The New 2021 Mustang Mach-E
The Mustang has a history of outranking nearly all other sports cars in its class. Knowing this, Ford decided to leverage the brand's great strengths to create the first Mustang-badged electric crossover: the new 2021 Mustang Mach-E. Ford added a healthy amount of Mustang couture to the new vehicle's design when designing the Mach-E. The result? A spacious, aggressive-looking, five-passenger electric crossover SUV. The first-ever electric Mustang is an impressive iconic car. Keep reading for a deep dive into the Mustang Mach-E's performance and unique features before stopping by Arrow Ford for a test drive.
Not Your Average Electric Vehicle
You can find the Mustang Mach-E with a choice of two batteries: the Standard Range 75.7 kWh battery and the Extended Range battery that puts out 98.8 kWh. The high-performance GT and GT Performance models can generate 480 hp and up to 634 lb-ft of torque if you're looking for more power. The other models can provide between 266 and 346 horsepower and between 317 and 428 lb-ft of torque. That's a lot of power combined with a smooth and quiet driving experience.
Enhanced Interior Features
The new Mustang Mach-E's interior features a standard SYNC 4A infotainment system paired with a 15.5-inch touchscreen display. Also, standard are connected navigation and enhanced voice recognition features. You can listen to your favorite songs streamed through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and the impressive 10-speaker B&O Sound System. Other features include a wireless phone charging pad, a 10.2-inch digital cluster screen and instrument panel, perforated ActiveX seating material, and a panoramic fixed-glass roof.
Because the car's battery is located under the vehicle's floor, you'll have even more passenger room and cargo space. In fact, the crossover has 29 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. If you fold the seats down, you can increase the cargo space to 60 cubic feet. When throwing a bag of ice or other messy things into the front truck, you'll be pleased to discover that it's lined with durable plastic. You can easily rinse this plastic and drain the water. You can use your Mustang Mach-E in a practical way and still make cleaning up easier than ever.
Battery Range and Charging
The EPA estimates the 2021 Mustang Mach-E's range to be between 211 and 305 miles. The exact range depends on the type of electric motors and battery pack. Each Mach-E model can be fast charged and comes with a Ford mobile charger. The mobile charger can provide 30 miles of range per night when used with a 120-volt outlet. If you're using a 240-volt outlet, you can up this to 80% of battery life overnight. If you want a full charging station at home, you can order one online. It will be installed by certified electricians and can recharge the battery overnight.
Ford Mustang Mach-E Trim Levels
The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is available in four trim levels. The Premium trim level gives you the most bang for your buck. It doesn't cost much more than the Select model but comes with several more comfort and driver assistance features. If you want to choose between the Standard and Extended Range batteries, the Premium is the only model that allows you to do so.
New 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Select
The Mach-E Select is only available with the Standard Range battery, which allows up to 230 miles in rear-wheel drive or 211 in all-wheel drive. The Select is equipped with a SYNC 4 infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.5-inch touch screen display with navigation. Also, standard is satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, and a wireless device charging station. You can easily listen to music through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Ford MyKey, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring are standard driver assistance features. You'll also find traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse brake assist. Many of these features are highlighted in Ford's Co-Pilot 360 technology suite.
New 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1
Next up is the California Route 1, which is only available with the Extended Range battery and rear-wheel drive. This model has a maximum range of 300 miles and generates 290 horsepower. In addition to the standard features found on the Select model, the California Route 1 adds a surround-view parking camera, a panoramic sunroof, and parallel and perpendicular park assist.
New 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium
The Mustang Mach-E Premium model is a popular choice because it's the lowest-level trim to offer the Extended Range battery. Purchasing a model with this battery increases the vehicle's range to 300 miles. Its horsepower rating is 290 in rear-wheel-drive models. All-wheel-drive models have a 270-mile range and produce 346 horsepower.
The Premium is more affordable than the California Route 1 but has additional standard features. These additional features include a nine-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, a hands-free power liftgate, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats.
New 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT
The GT model adds even more standard features, including an all-wheel drive with a range of 250 miles. It produces 480 horsepower. While the GT's features list is very similar to the Premium model, several standard features on this trim are optional. These include a surround-view parking camera system, a panoramic system, and parallel and perpendicular park assist.
Another variant is available called the GT Performance Edition. This one is very similar to the GT when it comes to features. However, it generates 634 lb-ft of torque. This is impressive, but you must settle for a lower maximum range of 235 miles.
